Written by Edvard Grieg as part of the incidental music for Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, it accompanies the scene where Peer enters the hall of the Mountain King and finds himself surrounded by trolls, menace, and rising chaos.

For this arrangement, I wanted to preserve Grieg’s sense of pursuit and danger, while expanding it into a larger, darker, and more monumental orchestral world. The familiar theme is carried through driving strings, aggressive staccatos, heavy brass, thunderous percussion, and choir textures, gradually pushing the music toward the feeling of a full-scale mythological battle.

The visual world of this video is inspired by Baroque and Neoclassical painting, fantasy, mythology, and old-world drama. Rather than illustrating Peer Gynt literally, the video follows a darker fantasy vision: mountain dwarves, a king hidden deep inside the mountain, and a violent struggle against fire-breathing dragons. Visuals were created with AI-assisted tools and edited/curated for this video.
