In Paris With You - A poem by James Fenton.
About the poem - Paris is synonymous to love and romance but the poet starts the poem with a "Don't talk to me of love" because he is trying to get over a broken relationship, flirtatiously addressing a woman that he just met.
About the poet - James Martin Fenton (born 25 April 1949, Lincoln) is an English poet, journalist and literary critic. He was educated at the Durham Choristers School, Repton and Magdalen College, Oxford. Fenton won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize in 1984 for Children in Exile: Poems 1968-1984. He is a former Oxford Professor of Poetry. He was awarded the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry in 2007. W.H Auden is the greatest single influence on Fenton's work.
