About the poem - Emily Dickinson is known for her obsession with the theme of death for a lot of her poems. She says that though, the coffin is small domain, it holds a vast amount of feelings, memories of the person who has died; that their loved ones miss them. But while the body rests in peace in that domain, the spirit has breaks the chains of mortality and rises heavenward.
About the poet - Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (December 10, 1830 -- May 15, 1886) was a very prolific private American poet. She was born in Amherst, Massachusetts. Many of her poems deal with themes of death and immortality.
