This 3x3 piston door, made in 1.5.1, is more compact than my previous design by a few blocks, as well as requiring 1 less sticky piston. It is 1 block wide, and also can fit a repair button within its volume for those times when you're building and you accidentally cause the piston to bud. In fact, you can access that button while standing in the door frame and after breaking only one block, so it is extremely easy to access for repair. The volumes by input are: lever [9x13x1, 117 blocks] and button [9x14x1, 124 blocks].
