June 7, 2021 note: I just discovered you can actually drag-n-drop full resolution videos from Photo Booth into FCPX! Pretty sick that the Photos app is the most broken of all the Apple media apps.

Apple has bungled the integration of it's video editors, iMovie and Final Cut Pro with the rest of its product family: Photos, Voice Memo, and the Finder. Particularly if iCloud is being used as a backing store. In this video I show you what is broken and how to work around it.
