Welcome to I’ll Knit (& Spin!) If I want To! I asked y’all to send in some of your questions (from everything from fiber arts, to designing and on!) so I could put together a little video for y’all every Friday doing my best to answer your questions!

1. I’ve swatched for the Traveler Hoodie and I’m ready to go! Or I was, until I read “long tail tubular cast on method”.. every time I try, my stitches get so twisted up. I’m nervous I’ll somehow twist the stitches when I join. Will the setup rows ensure that doesn’t happen? Any tips or tricks are appreciated!
2. Hi Andrea! I love your new Antipodes sweater and am so excited to cast on. I remember you once said you prefer to design your drop shoulder sweaters bottom up, but I saw this one is knit from the top down. I’m wondering how you chose Antipode’s construction, chose its name, and anything else you want to share that went into your design process for this sweater? Thank you so much!
3. Love spending Friday mornings with you and I am so so excited for your new Rhinebeck sweater! I saw a version in your newsletter that has short sleeves. I live in California and want to get maximum wear out of it so am thinking about making that version. How would I do that? Do I just stop after the saddle shoulder stripes? Do I add a cuff? Thank you!
4. Your 2026 Rhinebeck sweater is awesome! I'm looking forward to diving in and knitting this one. I see that the colorwork pattern switches halfway on the body of the sweater. But if I want to choose only one section of the colorwork to repeat around the entire sweater, can I simply flip the pattern repeat on one side of the chart and use it for the other too? Some of our brains just need the symmetry! :P Any tips on playing with the color charts to create a symmetrical pattern throughout the entire sweater would be appreciated. I will not be at Rhinebeck but look forward to seeing all the pics with knitters' interpretations of your beautiful design.
6. Hi, this is kind of a silly question about your sweaters quantity spin on your supported spindles. You said, that you might change to your weel if it turns out that it´ll be to much to spin a sweater quantity on supportes spindles. I´m curious about changing the long draw of supported into a short forward of a weel, what am I missing or do you do long draw on weels or does it not effect the outcome of the finished yarn at all to change from one to another?
6. Hi Andrea. I have a question that’s not related to knitting and that is a follow-up to the health discussion from the last few episodes. I really appreciate it that you are so open and honest about your health journey, especially that you mentioned being an introvert. In one of the episodes, you discussed dealing with “why-me” questions and frustration. I also have a health condition which limits what I can eat, and I need to keep a strict eating schedule to feel well. However, it’s not as straightforward as saying that I am allergic to some foods and this is an issue in social contexts where people seem to think that I am just being picky. As a result, I avoid social gatherings whenever I can because dealing with constant questions is exhausting. People don’t seem to understand my limitations and expect me to explain myself each time. How do you deal with your food limitations in social settings where you cannot control what is served? Do you avoid such situations? Or take part in them but don’t eat? And does it get any better with time? :)
