The show is called “Green eggs and ham” and is on Netflix if anyone wants to know!

Ah, I hadn’t done one of these in a while. Still trying to get back to the hang of editing and honestly, it’s still the best way to let out emotions for me.

But let’s see, I watched this show the week it was released after watching a Youtube promo bc it just wouldn’t stop promoting it to me so I gave in. But I’m glad they did bc I was immediately HOOKED and I watched all episodes in like 3 days and have been rewatching the eps ever since..

I’ve always been a HUGE Doctor Seuss’ fan as his books were a great part of my childhood but unfortunately most adaptations of his work have let me down as they fail to capture what made Dr. Seuss’ work so cute and wholesome and instead focused on making cash-grabs, so when I saw this I had my doubts. Naturally I assumed they’d just done something loosely based on the book and butchered it. But BOY was I wrong!
What I found instead was a charming, cute, heartwarming story (with BEAUTIFUL 2D, HAND-DRAWN, TRADITIONAL FRAME BY FRAME animation! FOR REAL, when was the last time you saw that?) that while yes, they did add a lot of things that weren’t in the book, kept it very Seuss-like, expanding the universe he created as opposed to butchering it. I could easily believe this was something he wrote himself. The visuals and designs also were also kept as close to the original Seuss’ style as possible, even the randomness of it, and it really felt like one of his books brought to life.
Aside from the animation being absolutely stunning, the story was also another great plus. They kept the theme of Green eggs and ham a recurring thing on the show, and even included the poem itself and a narrator that spoke in rhymes so it never felt detached from the source material as different as it is from the book.
But ah it broke my heart so many times! and it’s going to break yours too so get ready. The main characters are all really cute and likeable, and almost all of them grow a lot throughout the show and watching their journey as their relationship changes and grows is just wholesome bc none of it feels forced or dumb, it’s quite mature at times. They all have distinct personalities and their own things to overcome and I got so attached to them by the end of it, I just wanted them all to be happy and okie.

My favorite part though has to be Guy and Sam’s story arc and friendship. SAM IS MY FAVORITE. Cute little hyper furball. But I love Guy too, he’s just so relatable with his struggles and I love how vulnerable he is. I won’t spoil it too much but AH. THEY BROKE MY HEART. I just love how he never gave up on Guy and how Guy eventually welcomed him in after Sam helped him as well even after all the bad sh*t they went through. They’re just the best of friends and really are the best part of it all imo.
It’s not a perfect show by any means, and towards the end a few writing decisions struck me as not ideal, but the good overcomes the bad BY A LOT, so I can forgive those.

So long story short, I really think it’s worth a watch, even if you’re not a Doctor Seuss’ fan. If you are, you’ll probably love the similarities between this and the books. If you’re not, you’ll still have a really random, sweet show set in a cute fantastic world with a lot of cute characters and an entertaining story to follow!
And I wanted to give editing with it a try, both bc it needs more love but also bc it’s such a great media to edit with! It has great scenes and cute colors and I had a lot of fun and hope to use it more! So have this as a little beta.

And well about the venting part of it, I guess it kinda follows the song.
I feel like I haven’t been the best I can be, not to myself and definitely not to the people around me and not to my friends and that’s just really unfair of me. I have the bad habit of isolating myself whenever the smallest thing bothers me, and although I am so lucky to have wonderful friends, I can’t help but shut them out and eventually hurt them as well. And because things were a special kind of bad, I ended up pushing away a lot of people I cared a lot about and now I struggle to reconnect with them because I can’t help but feel like they’d be better off without me. So it takes me a lot to even try. I am so thankful that they’re all so welcoming even after it all, you guys really are the best.
I just don’t know whether I’m to blame for that for letting my issues get the best of me, or if they really were too bad to handle. I guess I’m only human, and can only handle so much, but maybe I didn’t try the best I could to be okay through them.
Yikes. Depression and anxiety suck, folks. But things are ok now. Just wanted to let some of it out :P

But this is already too long, so yeah, thanks for watching! :D
Also watch GEAH, k? K.
