War of the First Coalition
Date: September 20, 1792
The King of France is a prisoner in own country, and the fires of revolution threaten to engulf the rest of the continent if left unchecked!
In late August and Early September, the combined allied army crossed the frontier into France, taking the key fortresses of Longwy (August 23rd) and Verdun (September 2nd). Threatened by the rapid advance, the Revolutionaries have recalled an army from the drive into Belgium in an effort to defend the road to Paris. This army, under Dumouriez, has linked up with another, under Kellerman, and moves to threaten the lines of communication and supply east of the coalition.
