Set in 2031, Qin retiring alone on a small island, as his wife Xiaoxiao is away all year long. Fan, Qin's friend, designs an android identical to Xiaoxiao to keep Qin company. Spending time with the android and old friends.
The film is set in a future timeline, and Tau Films handled most of the visual effects that shaped the look and mood of the story. Their team created a fully CG lifelike android, starting from design and modeling to rigging, animation, and final rendering, making sure it blended naturally with the live-action shots. They also worked heavily on the environments — especially the remote island where the main character spends most of his time. Many of the wide shots, skies, backgrounds, and environmental details were digitally extended or completely rebuilt to match the director’s vision of isolation, memory, and emotional distance.
Tau Films integrated CG elements into real footage using match-moving, roto, and compositing to make the android and the augmented environments feel completely natural. Lighting and atmosphere played a major role, so the studio focused on mood-based rendering, volumetric depth, and subtle color tones to support the emotional storytelling rather than flashy effects.
