Well… the planters are finally done 🙌 but that doesn’t mean the shop is slowing down.
Today we’re rebuilding a couple of John Blue fertilizer pumps, trying to take the slop out of them so we don’t have to spend the money on brand new ones. New bushings, sprocket adjustments, springs back in (which always takes about six hands), and hopefully getting everything tight enough to run another season.
While we’re at it, we upgrade some shop lights — and wow, what a difference. It’s amazing how much better you can work when you can actually see what you’re doing.
Then we move on to truck repairs… and of course it turns into more than we expected. Gearbox issues, a bad U-joint, cracked metal, PTO headaches, and trying to fix things without buying a pile of new parts. Just another normal day in the farm shop.
Oh — and I make a quick trip to deal with a backed-up septic at one of our rental houses. Because farm life doesn’t stop at the shop.
Some days are planting.
Some days are harvesting.
And some days are just fixing everything that keeps it all running.
