The Texas Department of Transportation continues to research best practices designed to improve safety on roadways. This includes work related to pavement projects, such as cross-slope improvement and flushing treatment techniques.
Researchers at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute and TxDOT looked at ways to measure pavement crash susceptibility, based on geometrics, skid resistance, and roughness. This work resulted in a tool that assists TxDOT districts proactively identify areas of concern and come up with options to improve road safety.
