Franzl Lang
1930 - 2015
Franz "Franzl" Lang (28 December 1930 – 6 December 2015), known as the Yodel King (German: Jodlerkönig), was an alpine yodeler from Bavaria, Germany. Lang also sang and played the guitar and the accordion and appeared in several German films of the 1960's.
During his career, Lang sold more than 10 million recordings; he earned 20 gold records and one platinum record awarded by the German recording industry.

Lang got his start at the Platzl Stage, a folk music venue just across the street from the Hofbräuhaus in downtown Munich. Heavy with beer waltzes, this record should be played in a beer tent or garden.
This is one of Lang’s most iconic album covers. It captures Lang at his best….ready to crush a stein holding contest. He probably got to down a couple of those after the photo shoot.
In typical beer hall fashion, Lang performs with several traditional "Blasmusik" (brass band) groups.
