Grazer Spitzbuam (Spatzen)
1983- 2018
Not sure, but this might be the first album of the Grazer Spitzbuam later name change "Spatzen". The group was based in Graz, Styria (Steiermark) for 35 years stopping just in 2018. The only two names I know are Wolfgang Sorger (Baritone), the leader of the band, and Erich Kleindienst (Guitar). I saw this group in the U.S. around 1985 and was hooked on "Oberkrainer Besetzung."

Wolfgang and Erich wrote a number of the songs on this album. The themes are a mix of the Alps, friendships and just having fun. As always the musicianship of this group jumps out at you. The Grazer have always been a tight hard driving band.

Wolfgang Sorger can yodel. On this tune, he throws his young Baritone voice into the stratosphere. You don't think of the "Steiermark" (Styria) as prime yodeling territory, but the north Steiermark is. The south is more wine hills. Grab a smooth IPA and imagine the mountains of the Steiermark.
