Muhammad Ibn Battuta or Ibn Battuta (محمد ابن بطوطة) was a Moroccan scholar who widely travelled the known
medieval world. Over a period of thirty years (1325 - 1354 AD /725 - 755 H), Ibn Battuta visited
most of the Islamic world and beyond. His travels extend from Morocco to China, Swahili coast to
Constantinople. Covering more than 117,000 km (73,000 miles) and across 44 different modern-day
countries. Ibn Battuta travels more distance than Marcopolo, venetian merchant who went to China in
1269 AD.He recorded his journey in a hulking travelogue known as the The Travels/Rihla (الرحلة) in 1355
AD.
