Hello Friends, last upload we compare the mwaves FM ability with the yamaha original. Today lets take a closer look on another mwave-feature - wavetable sound! The mwave offers general midi compatible wavetable synthesis in MS-Dos - and therefore is able to play GM music in many DOS-Games. But what could you expect from it? Listen here.
Track of choise is "Dr. Frog" from Bullfrogs Theme-Hospital. (The game is much fun and you can buy it at gog.com btw.)
The mwave has a nice DOS-driver wich is installed with the Windows 9x driver. When shut down windows to MS-Dos, just type "mwave start" in the command line to configure the card. You can select between SB Pro FM or General Midi wavetable there. And you can adjust chorus and hall as well as a 3D spartializer with I disabled here as it is - bad. If you save and close the setup, something curious happend: The Mwave does upload some code to the DSP wich takes a few seconds. And then you're ready to the world of wavetable! But don't expect too much. Overall-quality of the wave-samples isn't good compared to external modules or higher quality external wavetable moduls.
