I wish more moms had told me this before I thought something was wrong with me…
It’s okay to miss who you were before you became a mom. ❤️
Becoming a mom is life-changing, but motherhood doesn’t have to become your only identity.
You are still YOU.
The woman who loved going out for coffee.
The woman who wanted to travel.
The woman who loved working out, painting, reading, dancing, trying new things, or simply having time to herself.
And maybe there are things you’ve become interested in because you’re a mom. That counts, too!
So make a list:
✨ Things you loved doing before kids
✨ Things you’re curious about now
✨ Things you’d love to try if you weren’t worried about going alone
Then pick ONE and go do it.
🧘🏻♀️Take a yoga class.
🎨 Learn how to paint.
☕️ Go to a new coffee shop.
🏞️ Take a walk at a new park.
📘 Join a book club.
🏋🏻♀️ Try a workout class.
And please don’t let the idea of going alone stop you.
You might walk into that yoga class by yourself and leave having met someone who loves the exact same things you do.
Because you’re already putting yourself in places where like-minded people are likely to be. ❤️
And mama, you cannot pour from an empty cup.
Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean you’re taking something away from your children. It means you’re remembering that you matter, too.
You’re allowed to have interests.
You’re allowed to have friends.
You’re allowed to want time alone.
You’re allowed to miss your old life while absolutely loving your new one.
None of that makes you a bad mom.
It makes you human. 🤍
And if nobody has told you lately… you’re doing a really, really good job.
