The plan was to go down to the canal and draw the geese.
But when I take my sketchbook out, I draw something, give it my full attention, finish it and then something else catches my eye. A man helping to pull the canal boat, a little dog growling at the geese, a couple setting off on a day trip…
It was hot, the sun was blinding the smell of coffee drifting across the canal was too much. I went home. On the way I realised I hadn’t really been distracted at all.
I’ve been thinking a lot recently about attention, creativity and what it means to draw in this strange new post-AI world. I’m going back to my roots, sketching what catches my attention and seeing where it leads.
Come along for the journey.
