The 2026 Honda CB1000GT is one of the bikes I've been most looking forward to riding this year.
When Honda first announced the CB1000GT there was a huge amount of interest in it — and as someone who loves a good old-school sports tourer, I was particularly intrigued.
But now I've finally got to ride one here in Blighty!
The CB1000GT is based around Honda's excellent 1,000cc inline-four engine, derived from the Fireblade and also used in the CB1000 Hornet and CB1000F. In the GT it's producing around 148bhp and 102Nm of torque, with electronic EERA suspension, four riding modes, cruise control, quickshifter, heated grips, a 21-litre tank and plenty more touring equipment.
And there were a couple of things that really surprised me.
Firstly, just how agile and nimble this bike feels. Secondly, I actually like the way it looks much more now I've seen it in the flesh. From photographs I wasn't convinced, but in person I think Honda has done a pretty good job.
So how does this new Honda sports tourer cope with the reality of British roads? Is the CB1000GT the return of the proper sports tourer we've been waiting for? And how does it compare with bikes such as the Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX, Suzuki GSX-S1000GX and Yamaha Tracer 9 GT?
