For today’s episode, I’m in Easley, South Carolina for the very first time, taking on Smitty’s Smokin’ Soul Food’s legendary “Soul Fest” BBQ Challenge!
Smitty's Smokin' Soul Food is a family-owned BBQ restaurant founded by Allen and Ashley Smith. What started as backyard smoking sessions and catering eventually grew into one of South Carolina's favorite barbecue destinations. The restaurant specializes in Texas-style smoked brisket, ribs, pulled pork, turkey, and homemade Southern sides like mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans, fried okra, and jalapeño cheddar cornbread. Built around family recipes and Southern hospitality, Smitty’s has earned a reputation for generous portions, welcoming service, and authentic smoked barbecue that’s well worth the visit.
The “Soul Fest” BBQ Challenge features a massive platter loaded with some of Smitty’s best barbecue, including a half pound each of brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork, ribs, and six wings with your choice of sauce. On top of that, you’ll get four sides of your choice. I went with the BBQ baked beans, mac and cheese, fried okra, and jalapeño cheddar cornbread. It also comes with two soft buns and one of their famous Soul Rolls. If you can finish everything within one hour, you’ll get the $75–80 meal free and a T-shirt!
