This is the biggest gel plate I have ever seen… and I couldn’t wait to get started! In collaboration with Gelelf, I’m unboxing my brand new super-sized gel plate and diving straight into my very first print. And honestly… this experience was exhilarating. Working on this scale completely changes the way you create.
I’m using a palette of my favourite rich, warm colours and beginning with the water technique, building soft, flowing layers directly on the gel plate. There’s something so freeing about working this way—letting the paint move, blend, and create those beautiful organic textures.
Then comes the moment of truth…
I pull the print using two full sheets of wet strength tissue, capturing all that colour, movement, and texture in one incredible pull. Watching it lift off the plate at this size is something else entirely—it felt bold, immersive, and honestly a little bit life-changing.
If you love gel plate printing, mixed media, and pushing your creativity further, this is going to inspire you to think bigger—literally.
