. Does Bacter AE reduce dissolved oxygen in a shrimp tank? I tested one estimated flat scoop (roughly 0.2 g) in a single mature tank and tracked the meter from a 7.1 mg/L starting reading through several checks over 24 hours.
The readings ranged from 6.5 to 6.8 mg/L after dosing. In this one setup, I did not observe a large oxygen drop attributable to Bacter AE. This was not a controlled experiment: there was no control tank, the dose was estimated rather than weighed, the tank volume was not stated, and plant/light-cycle effects and normal meter variation were not isolated. Do not treat this result as universal dosing or safety guidance—follow the product instructions for your own tank and monitor livestock and aeration.
