Todayβs Friday morning coffee takes me to Auto Bar La Ruta in Marazul, on the road between Callao Salvaje and Playa San Juan. I have a look through the local menu, settle down with a coffee and try a surprisingly substantial steak sandwich while also experimenting with the live-stream setup and location sharing.
Then the morning takes an unexpected turn when Diego, a young Tenerife local from La Laguna, joins me for a chat. We talk about his time working abroad, his hopes of returning to Tenerife, jobs, the rising cost of housing, how I ended up moving here, learning languages and the very Spanish habit that got me drinking coffee over ice.
