Cycling the world - Asia: episode 35
I wake up in a dry riverbed after a quiet night of wild camping in Oman, stretch out my back and get back on the bike for another brutal day. The road is a constant rollercoaster of steep climbs and descents until I meet a German overlander who hands me some ice, a small gift that makes a big difference. Soon after I leave the road and follow a Bikepacking route into the mountains, where the terrain turns rough and unforgiving with steep dirt climbs and technical descents along a wadi. A mechanical issue forces me to stop and fix my brakes in the middle of nowhere, and when I finally reach a village there is nothing there. I push on into the next valley where I manage to find supplies before sunset, wash up at a mosque and load up on water before heading into Wadi Damm. As night falls I arrive at my camp and see the dirt road climbing the mountain ahead, knowing tomorrow will be even harder.
