Cycling the world - Asia: 10 episode
Still on the Sufi Trail, I roll out of Bolvadin after a big Turkish breakfast with my host and friends, with Said escorting me towards Çay. The day is a constant up-and-down along the mountain’s edge; I dodge a rain shower by taking refuge in a mosque and, as dusk falls, camp quietly in a cemetery. Next day starts with a brutal climb straight out of town to Akşehir, where I catch my breath among handsome historic streets. More villages, more rollers then a full-blown thunderstorm. I hide under a petrol station roof, later land in Doğanhisar where a local political party feeds me for free. With the ground soaked and muddy, I pitch up again in the cemetery, this time under a gazebo. Low budget, high drama, still moving.
