On June 20th, 2025, a historic tornado outbreak would impact portions of eastern North Dakota producing several intense to violent tornadoes. One of these tornadoes near the town of Enderlin, ND, would go on to do something no tornado has done in over 12 years, achieve a rating of EF5, the strongest classification a tornado can receive. This is the story of taking my friend Jack@TornadoForensics to see his first tornado and witnessing history. The story of the Enderlin, North Dakota EF5 tornado, the first EF5 tornado in over 12 years.

As a storm chaser I've always dreamed of seeing an EF5 tornado and for many its the pinnacle achievement of a chasing career. Enderlin was not how I expected the EF5 drought that started after the 2013 Moore, Oklahoma EF5 to end but I'm extremely grateful I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to witness it and my heart goes out to the families of the victims of this disaster.
