In this video, I rebuild a forgotten 1909 folding camp stove using the original patent drawings and historical advertisements from the early 1900s. This unusual triangular stove was designed to fold completely flat for easy packing while still supporting kettles, frying pans, and camp cookware over an open fire.
Using steel bar stock, rivets, and a locking linkage system, I recreate this lost piece of camping history to see whether the design still works today. From the folding mechanism to the hidden center brace system, this may be one of the most unusual and overlooked pieces of vintage camping gear ever patented.
