Every Toy Story character ranked in one enormous tier list — from Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie all the way down to Rocky Gibraltar, background toys, television characters, spinoff heroes, villains, and the newest additions from Toy Story 5.
This is not just a ranking of the main characters.

I am ranking every single Toy Story character I could include across the five theatrical films, shorts, television specials, animated spinoffs, and other major Toy Story projects. That means the icons, the villains, the forgotten toys, the one-scene characters, the deep cuts, and the characters only the most obsessed Toy Story fans will remember.
And yes, Toy Story 5 is included.
The newest chapter introduces characters like Lilypad, Bonnie’s new frog-shaped tablet voiced by Greta Lee, and Smarty Pants, the bizarre new toy voiced by Conan O’Brien. Lilypad challenges the role traditional toys play in Bonnie’s life, while Smarty Pants joins the franchise as one of its strangest new creations.
As the biggest Toy Story fan you have ever met, this might be one of the most difficult rankings I have ever attempted.
How do you compare Woody’s complete five-film journey to a hilarious supporting character who only appears for a few minutes? Where do characters from Buzz Lightyear of Star Command belong? How much should nostalgia matter? Does being funny earn someone a higher tier than having an emotional arc? And how do the new Toy Story 5 characters compare to toys we have loved for decades?
The ranking includes characters from across the franchise, including:
Woody
Buzz Lightyear
Jessie
Bo Peep
Rex
Hamm
Slinky Dog
Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head
Bullseye
The Aliens
Andy, Bonnie, Sid, and the human characters
Stinky Pete, Lotso, Gabby Gabby, Zurg, and the villains
Forky, Duke Caboom, Ducky, Bunny, Giggle McDimples, and the newer toys
Wheezy, Lenny, Rocky Gibraltar, Etch, Robot, Snake, and the original background toys
The Sunnyside toys
The carnival toys
Characters from the television specials and shorts
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command characters
Lilypad, Smarty Pants, and the new Toy Story 5 additions
And many more
Some characters are going straight into the highest tier because they helped define my childhood. Some are underrated and deserve far more appreciation. Others may have to face the painful truth that not every Toy Story character can be elite.
But nobody gets ignored.
This is the definitive Toy Story character tier list from someone who has lived with this franchise for his entire life.
If you enjoyed this massive character ranking, make sure to like the video, subscribe, and comment which Toy Story character belongs in the highest tier.
