It’s one thing to do a quick test in the shack — but it’s a whole different ballgame when you take gear into the field and really push it to its limits. I had the chance to battle-test two different pieces of gear while we were in Huntsville, and the results were impressive.
🔋 Kenwood D75 + Aftermarket Battery = Awesomeness
One of my biggest gripes with the Kenwood D74/D75 has always been battery life. That problem? SOLVED.
Earlier this year in Dayton, Todd (thank you!) handed me an aftermarket battery to try. I put it to the test in Huntsville — and this wasn’t casual use. We’re talking 16-hour days, every day, with the D75 beaconing APRS continuously and serving as my primary voice rig.
The result? The radio kept going all day — and still had juice left every night before I charged it.
