You spoke, I folded. After all the comments about post rot on my DIY pole barn, I found a rot-protection fix that costs about $3 a post instead of $100+ per sleeve β and poured the footings fast with a mud mixer that makes concrete stupid easy.
This one's a 10x4 lean-to onto the garage for the mower, tractor, grader box, and hopefully the wood splitter. I seal the critical ground-to-air zone with Flex Seal, lay it out in SketchUp, run true lines square off the existing 28x32 barn, and pour. All in for about $400: 4 posts, 8 bags of concrete, 12 bags of gravel, and one can of Flex Seal.
Still think posts don't need protection? Let me know in the comments β we'll find out in 50 years. Next video: framing the lean-to.
Like, subscribe, and check out how I set the poles on the original DIY pole barn.
