I'm adding two lofts to my DIY pole barn, turning wasted overhead space into about 150 square feet of usable storage. This quick, budget-friendly project adds serious value without changing the footprint of the building.
The main loft above the garage door is framed with 2x10 joists and 3/4" OSB, while the smaller front loft uses 2x8 joists, still providing plenty of strength for storage. Both areas sit above existing garage doors, maximizing space that would otherwise go unused.
I walk through the layout, framing, materials, and tools I used, along with why I designed the lofts this way. At the end of the video, I break down how long it took and exactly how much it cost.
