In this video, I sew a corset pattern designed to give larger bust sizes that nice rounded curvy 1890s silhouette. Though this corset gives me a pretty extreme-looking silhouette I'm not actually tightly laced. I explain how corsets work, that they don't actually make anything smaller, and how both reduction and the illusion of it are all in the patterning and much less about actual tight lacing. This corset only reduces my waist by 2 inches, the illusion comes from the huge hip spring that makes the waist appear much smaller.

The pattern I used is a one-size pattern from Boudoir Key. It comes without seam allowances and is meant for people with a basic understanding of how a corset is sewn together.

For my fabrics, I used a very lightweight cotton sateen as my fashion fabric and an Ikea Lenda fabric as a strength layer. The corset is boned with heavy-duty zip ties and the busk is a 13-inch straight steel busk.
