As some of you know, the 1986 film Short Circuit is one of my favorite movies of all time, and one my earliest movies I remember watching as a kid that I really wanted to watch repeatedly because of falling in love with the character of Johnny 5, as well loving the visuals of it being filmed locally.
Last Saturday, I drove up to Astoria to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary with a huge celebration the city had put on, including actors and crews being present, props and set pieces, the first licensed merchandise of the movie, panel discussions, and a real 1:1 working Johnny 5 replica. It was such a fun day to see so much love and history for and with Short Circuit.
I had been wishing for years that there was a big event for Short Circuit so I could share my excitement and admiration of the movie with others, and this was the perfect opportunity for that.
Many thanks to those that were able to put on such an amazing celebration.
