How do you write a great and compelling introduction to your music?

๐Ÿ—ก Using Zelda's Music To Explain Harmonic Rhythm youtu.be/ktqyrplsWDQ

With The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword coming out soon on the Nintendo Switch, I thought Iโ€™d use the Skyward Sword soundtrack as a model for how to pull in your listener and get their attention. Time for some Legend of Zelda Music Theory!

Musical intros are short and simple, but at the same time writing an effective one that pulls your listener in and sets up your music can often be a challenge.

In this video weโ€™ll look at three different types of introductions: gestures, crescendos, and vamps. Then weโ€™ll listen to examples that combine these elements into more complex structures.

Be sure to check out another video on the music from Zelda games, Using Zelda's Music To Explain Harmonic Rhythm: youtu.be/ktqyrplsWDQ
