In this video I introduce each of the 8 textures from McKay's book Creative Orchestration with a quick description of how they are used to write orchestral music.

Through different arrangements of orchestral instruments you can achieve a variety of unique effects and bring your compositions to life with effective orchestration. Even if you only ever write in a DAW with virtual instruments, having a clear understanding of thees textures can help you express your music in different ways.

This video is a quick overview, and then there will be a different video for each of the eight textures: Monophonic, Chordal, Polyphonic, Homophonic, Polyrhythmic, Polythematic, Heterophonic, and Onomatapoeic.
