For the longest time, I played it safe with watercolor. I barely used water, painted mostly wet-on-dry, and kept layering until my work looked heavy and flat.😭
What finally changed things?
👉 Learning to balance wet-on-wet with wet-on-dry.
💧Wet-on-wet gives you glow, softness, and beautiful foundations.
⚡Wet-on-dry gives you detail, contrast, and structure.
When you use both with intention, everything shifts!
🛑 Before every painting, I ask:
Where do I want softness?
Where do I want edges?
How will these layers work together?
That simple planning step keeps my paintings fresh instead of overworked.
