I am an atheist and I truly hate Christmas, here is why. It compels us to overspend on gifts for people we don't know or like very much. It compels us to feel guilty if we don't buy a present for every person we know.
My distaste of Christmas has nothing to do with me being an atheist. I certainly do not consider Christmas to be a Christian holiday. In fact many of the traditions are pagan in origin. However I believe the unnecessary consumerism of Christmas has taken the holiday over so much I don't see it connected to any religious tradition any more.
