We all spend hours on Google Earth, right? Looking at our old elementary schools, or zooming in on Area 51 to see if we can spot a hangar. It’s a tool for curiosity. But last Tuesday, at 3:00 AM, I think I found something that wasn’t supposed to be found.
I spend a lot of time on Google Earth. It started as a hobby—just looking for cool hiking spots near my favorite my mountain ranges in the west. But a few nights ago, I found something that… it doesn't make sense a strange place in the middle of nowhere.
I was tracing the ridge line of a mountain. It’s dense out there. No roads, a set of powerlines, no trails just old roads from the wild west mining era. Just miles of vertical rock and pine.
At first, I thought it was a rock formation. A glitch in the satellite imaging. But when I toggled the timeline… the house was still there in 2014. And 2008. There’s no road to get there. The nearest town is miles away. I pulled the property records, but the coordinates come up as "Unincorporated/No Data." It’s a dead zone. This is what makes this location so unique and oddly strange that it's abandoned and forgotten today.
