While scanning the area on Google Earth, I noticed what looked like a granite gorge tucked deep in the mountains. It didn’t appear to have any established trail leading to it, so we decided to go check it out for ourselves.
I invited my brother (@TheTrekPlanner), his wife, and we brought both of our dogs along for the adventure. What followed was a shaded, off-trail bushwhack that turned into one of the more unique hikes we’ve done.
We crossed the creek multiple times, followed the drainage upstream, and even found a section where the water disappears underground before reappearing further down.
At the end, we reached a hidden waterfall with snow still lingering at the base—something you don’t expect to see in Southern Utah depending on the time of year.
This is one of those places that feels rarely visited and completely off the radar.
