Things Got a Bit Too Much | Night Bus from Siem Reap to Kampot | Train to Sihanoukville | Sok San Beach, Koh Rong
In this video, I gently touch on something many of us feel but do not always talk about. When life starts to feel a bit too much and your energy dips. After that quiet moment at the start, I take you along with me on a slow and simple journey through Cambodia.
I travel from Siem Reap to Kampot on the Giant Ibis night bus, a long overnight journey that is surprisingly comfortable but very cold. From Kampot, I stay two nights at Onederz Hostel in Kampot, a great base for resting, walking, and resetting.
From Kampot, I take the train to Sihanoukville, which costs $6 and takes around two hours. The train ride is easy, affordable, and a lovely way to see a bit of the countryside.
At Sihanoukville Port, I catch the GTVC Speed Boat to Sok San Beach on Koh Rong. The boat stops first at Koh Touch Beach and then continues to Sok San. The journey takes around 40 minutes, and the open return ticket costs $30.
Once on Sok San Beach, I stay at Hakuna Matata Hostel. I originally booked 7 nights through Booking.com and later extended my stay by 2 more nights. When I extended directly at the hostel, Christophe kindly charged $10 per night instead of the $11 Booking.com rate, which is always a nice little win when travelling long term.
This video is about travel, yes, but also about slowing down, listening to yourself, and allowing gentle days when you need them. No rushing. No forcing joy. Just showing up and letting the journey do its thing.
