In this video we'll be checking out the recently rereleased PvZ3 that was out on 8 September. This was streamed on the same day the game was released.
I sometimes stream on Twitch: twitch.tv/chemistzombie
The game does have some improvements over the original one, such as the return of landscape mode, 2D-like models, and the old sun production system, but it still has lots of flaws, such as the massive performance issues in water levels, the potentially aggressive push towards microtransactions by forcing people to use instant plants during certain zombie spawns and having a health system that requires people to wait for 20 minutes to regenerate health in order to be able to play again (hence the missing restart button), the lack of variety in plants and zombies, and the inability to choose the plant of your choice, so overall it's a pretty mixed bag.
The performance issues are a huge dealbreaker here, as shown on the stream. It looks like certain hardware configurations will severely lag the game to the point of being unplayable. This is something that PopCap should immediately fix before moving on to anything else.
For some odd reason, the game also requires you to have an active internet connection at all times (basically DRM), despite it currently lacking any multiplayer features at the moment unlike the original one. It seems like this might be their way of introducing a "killswitch" that prevents people from playing these early access versions for too long. Once again, PopCap really needs to remove this DRM in the final version as not every place has good internet coverage and it seems unnecessary anyway given how the previous two games never forced you to do this.
In conclusion, PopCap still needs a lot of work in order to deliver a good sequel to the tower defense games. Keeping some of the questionable design decisions, lacking content, and not fixing major issues with the game, are surefire ways to doom the game just like what happened to BfN.

Just some clips taken last night in turf takeover while playing with some friends on a PvZ Discord.
Surprise, surprise, I finally met this guy who kicked my ass in Suburbination isolation over a month ago, WannabeCarrot. Ive always wanted to record him in a match because of that just to show you how good he is. Like dude, he literally beat me in a match at 4-18 and even in this video I still couldnt manage to beat him. Really good player. Maybe add me as friend please?
Some highlights:
6:05 - Swoop slammed me outta nowhere
8:10 - Spindashed outta nowhere
20:32 - Boasted along with WannabeCarrot
29:40 - Disconnected near the end of match
