Well hello there! Mat here... Thanks for watching our acoustic cover of I Can See Clearly Now by Johnny Nash. We've arranged this one for acoustic guitar and baritone ukulele, because I just can't get enough of this fantastic little instrument: you would think that only having four strings to worry about would be something of a holiday, but in fact it scrambles my brain every time I form a chord and I have to resort to imagining ghost strings in order to get my bearings.
I'm pretty sure the first time I heard this song was on an advert in the 80s. A crying woman pulls her car up onto a ledge overlooking the sea, plugs some weird device (maybe a curling iron?) into her cigarette lighter and puts the metal end into a mug of tea to warm it. She turns on the radio and this song plays as the sun breaks through the clouds and we track up and away from her sitting on the hood of the car with the now hot drink, looking out to a clear horizon as her mascara-stained lips form into a tiny smile.
To this day, I have no idea what they were selling. Maybe it was the drink... or even the car. I only cared about the song. Such simple, direct lyrics and such a positive message that hit me right in the feels and stayed with me for decades.
Anyway the point is this is a great song and we really hope you enjoy our acoustic cover. There's a note in the middle 8 that holds for about a week and caused us to lose consciousness on more that one take, so we hope it was worth it 🤣

In other news, we now have a teeny tiny new kitten called Wolf. He has a black back and face (racist?) with grey behind his ears and all down his belly. He insists on sleeping draped over Soph's windpipe, and his beady little eyes peer out with a look that says "Someday... some, distant day... I'm going to chew through your wi-fi"
