Where can you find support for a young adult with cancer? How does a person navigate this new phase of life and all that comes with it? In Utah, approximately 1,200 adolescents and young adults (AYAs), ages 15 to 39, are diagnosed with cancer each year. These patients face unique challenges. Cancer at this age can disrupt important life milestones—pausing careers or schooling—and raise fertility concerns. The Huntsman-Intermountain Adolescent and Young Adult (HIAYA) Cancer Care program is dedicated to providing the extra care needed for AYA patients. In this episode of I Can Answer That, Karlie Allen, MS, CCLS, joins us to answer common questions relating to the AYA navigator program at Huntsman Cancer Institute.
