I came home after five months of solo travelling and spreading my wings out in the world. I am now back in Byron Bay. The town I spent my adolesence growing up in. The town I have left and returned to more times than I can count on my hand. With each departure and return, I am made aware of how profoundly new experiences can alter your perception of the world around you. Each time I return home, I arrive and realise that the town is a magnolia in spring, with leaves young again and blossoms that open to kiss the air. Places here look at me with a face I have seen a thousand times, although something has changed and that something is me.
Now that I am home amongst stability and familiarity, I can feel my inner compass guiding me to lean into self love and discipline by building healthy habits and routines. I also feel that my soul is hungry for inspiration. For the past few months, travel has been my muse. Constant change was a force expanding my mind and my creativity, but now that I am home, I am re-discovering ways to find inspiration in the mundane (and it's beautiful).
