In this project I set out to build a physical, emotive face for a conversational AI, but I ended up with a sarcastic, philosophical, and witty companion who loves to argue with me. This is the story of Eliza V2.
In this video I'll show you how I created this one-of-a-kind desktop robot, from the initial breadboard prototype to the final, hand-soldered, permanent hardware. We'll dive into the challenges of the physical build and then explore the incredible software that brings her to life.
IN THIS VIDEO, YOU'LL SEE:
--The complete hardware build, including the ESP32-S3 "Brain" and the 32x32 HUB75 LED matrix face.
--The transition from a messy prototype to a robust, soldered perfboard circuit.
--A full, unfiltered conversation where I interview Eliza and she showcases her unique, sarcastic personality.
--The powerful Python, Docker, and local LLM (Ollama) setup that serves as Eliza's mind.
I'm not a professional programmer. The entire software brain you've seen in action—her memory, her personality, was created by way of a collaboration over thousands of prompts with a Google AI.
What would YOU ask a sarcastic robot? Let me know in the comments below!
