I bailed on my backpacking trip in the mountains of New Zealand after walking into a storm! The intention was to hike into a range of mountains called The Remarkables on the South Island of New Zealand, on a rarely travelled route called Wye Creek. However, as has been the story for most of my adventures in Aotearoa, things just did not go according to plan. Unexpected poor conditions threatened to turn into a serious storm, and without knowing if the situation would become dangerous, I was forced to flee back to my car before nightfall.
