When I moved into my Tulsa home the living room had the most beautiful fireplace as the focal wall, but there was a doorway into the sunroom on only ONE side. 😩
For most people that might be fine. For me and my symmetrical heart? Absolutely not.
So I did what any completely reasonable interior designer would do — I had another doorway added on the other side.
The result was this stunning, perfectly balanced focal wall that stops you in your tracks the moment you walk into the room. Fireplace centered, doorways flanking each side, symmetry achieved, peace restored. 🙌
This is what the design principle of symmetry can do for a space. It creates instant visual calm, a sense of intention, and that feeling that everything is exactly where it belongs. It is one of my absolute favorite principles and once you understand it you will never be able to unsee it in your own home.
