Tn this episode we strip down the left tilt cylinder and found some rather nasty surprises. It was extremely difficult to get the gland plug out, so we had to apply some rather unusual methods to get it apart. On inspecting everything, it was obvious that this guy with only a hammer in his toolbox was there before and left some obvious traces of his destructive skills. Not exactly unexpected as it fits the big picture of this 40+ years old truck.
As almost always with this forklift, a 3 hours seal change job turns into a much longer journey, therefore this became a 2 part video.
Almost any part of this cylinder will need some rework, so that's coming in the next episode.
With the correct seal kit and not been messed around with before, this cylinder would be very easy to repair, because it is a split piston design, so no trouble to get the piston seals on.
At least the seal kit seems to be a perfect fit ....
