In recent years the HVAC industry has seen regulation changes that have prompted two major shifts within the energy rating and system performance requirements. The implementation of these changes will have a direct impact on the quality and efficiency of system installations. We will also discuss the consumer and technician safety impacts from these changes.

Continuing Education Units (CEUS) submitted 1 hour in*

• Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI)
• Building Performance Institute (BPI) NonWholeHouse
• Submitted for American Institute of Architects - AIA (HSW)
• Certified Green Professional (NARI & CGP)
• Certified GreenHome Professional (CGHP) Pillar(s): Energy, Health, Materials, Place
• American Institute of Building Designers (AIBD)
• State Architect / Builder License may be applicable
• Building Science Institute (BSI) Verifier
• Passive House Consultant US (CPHC)
• Society of American Registered Architects (SARA)

Lessons Learned:

1. **Understand** the critical differences between SEER and SEER2 ratings to make informed decisions that enhance energy efficiency and contribute to better health outcomes through improved indoor air quality.
2. **Analyze** the performance indicators for SEER2 equipment installations to ensure optimal safety during operation and maintenance of HVAC systems.
3. **Introduce** updated tools specifically designed for servicing A2L refrigerants to promote welfare through safer handling and reduced risk of accidents.
4. **Articulate** the differences between A1, A2L, and A3 refrigerants to ensure proper selection and application, which is vital for maintaining both safety, decarbonization and environmental standards.
