This vintage family fave - a humorous nonsense rhyme, long out of print but readily borrowable - is the perfect match of author and illustrator, and a Danish classic.
Hounded by her husband to "churn the butter, smoke the hams; can tomatoes, put up jams" to the point of exhaustion, poor Mary sweats and toils to beat the onset of winter, finally giving her lazybones of a spouse his come-uppance by crowning him with a cooking pot.
