Hunter Esprit 42" ceiling fan in antique brass. This is another fan that I found in the trash during Cleanup Week 2023. In the scope of finds, this is another on the top end just due to the weird/rarity factor, but it's not in the best shape. Per usual, it actually looks really great on video, but a lot of the antique brass areas have some rusting and pitting. Most of the worst parts are faced away from the camera. Once again, toothpaste came to the rescue, as scrubbing with its slightly abrasive nature removed a lot of the very surface-level rust, and kind of evened the pits left behind to more of a neutral look. Not something I'd normally risk doing to a finish, but it was pretty bad in a couple spots and there wasn't much to lose. The result was an improvement. Considering that apparent moisture exposure, the blades are in excellent condition. Really only a bit of warping from being rested on a couple of them, otherwise no major physical damage. While these and the similar realm Cool Revolutions and Baseball Fan are all neat and rather innovative in their own regards, I personally think they're all some of the hottest garbage ever released under the Hunter brand. Absolute trash construction. Couldn't even be bothered to plate downrods to match the housing finishes. Really cheap stuff, but it's cool cheap stuff. The Baseball Fan I had was a bit niche for me even though it was childhood, but I think I'll hang onto this Esprit. Much more uncommon, and definitely a relic of a very specific time. For what it is, performance isn't bad at all. Nothing to write home about, but it does have enough speed to get something accomplished. Had to change out the capacitor. I think a couple of the values were slightly different, but it had come from another parted out Hunter fan so I figured it'd do fine, and it does.
